As my first official post on my blog, I REALLY wanted to talk about my newest purchases from The Body Shop! Over the years, I have purchased a few of their products here and there, but up until a couple of weeks ago I had never bought any of their make-up based products. I’d seen a few blogs and videos mentioning their products and thought, why not give it a go!
So, here are the products that I bought and what I thought of them!
Item 1 – Camomille Sumptuous Cleansing Butter | £10
I’ve only tried one cleansing butter in the past that smelt horrible and took several applications to remove my makeup properly. From that, I thought this type of product was a hoax. However, I spotted a similar product in The Body Shop and thought I’d give it another shot.
Let’s just say, I LOVE this product. Not only does is smell STUNNING, the scent isn’t overpowering and it actually removes my makeup in one application! I always struggle to find a makeup remover to take off my waterproof mascara without me having rub my eyes raw, but this is perfect!
When using it I typically just pop a few dots over my face (2 pea size amounts per dot), one on both cheeks and forehead, and gently rub it in. When it comes to my mascara, I just rub another small dot between my fingers and then rub it over my eye makeup. I do find that it leaves a slight oily residue when just washing my face with water, but I usually wash my face with face wash afterwards anyway, so it’s not too much of an issue for me.
Item 2 – Shade Adjusting Drops (lightening) | £11
I always seem to buy a foundation or concealer that is just slightly too dark for me and have been looking for an inexpensive way to correct the colour. I’ve heard loads about the Cover FX adjusting drops, among other brands, but I could never justify purchasing a product with a high price that I might not like or that might not work for me. However, I spotted a similar product in The Body Shop for only £11 (WHAT?!?) and decided to give it a whirl!
I found that I actually really liked this product. My only worry when I bought it was whether the undertones were going to be too pink, as that it was it looks like in the bottle. However, I’ve found that it doesn’t alter the undertone colour of the foundation/concealer too much, only altering the shade. I also really like the level of pigmentation, so you can gradually lighten your product of choice without overdoing it easily.
I typically only use a concealer for my base makeup as I don’t like to use foundation that often and found that it does dry the product, but only slightly. It’s not dried to the point that it looks ‘cakey’ or flaky on the face.
Item 3 – Lip Juicers | £7
My boyfriend is ALWAYS complaining about my lipstick transferring onto his face when I’m wearing makeup. I saw The Body Shop’s Lip Juicers and thought they could be a great way to add a slight tint to my lips without covering my boyfriend’s face with makeup!
I bought the flavour/colour in ‘Coconut, Carrot and Passion fruit’ and I have to say I love the smell! But lets be honest, anything from The Body Shop smells good. However, my only gripe with the product is that I find the colour slightly kiddish… it seriously reminds me of those ‘first lipstick’ kid kits… But, I do find that it nicely moisturises my lips without being too sticky whilst also drying slightly matte.
Thanks for reading and keep an eye out for my next post!
